Living with chronic pain can be anything from a mild nuisance one must deal with every day up to something that is downright crippling. How do you make adjustments for conditions like that in not only S&M play, but regular life within a D/s dynamic? As someone living with Fibromyalgia, I'll cover things from what it is like to live with chronic pain to what it is like to live with someone who has it. There will also be information given out that can help turn a disability into something that makes a relationship stronger.
Living with Chronic Pain
(Part 1 of Chronic Pain & Kink Series) – 1 to 1.5 hours
Chronic pain makes everyday life feel unmanageable and at times downright hopeless. This class will cover how we put control back into the hands of those with chronic pain conditions. We'll cover the what's, how's, and why's of living with pain, as well as how our loved ones can be of assistance. So come on out with your questions and an open mind. Together our shared experience, strength, and hope can make a world of difference.
Getting Kinky with Chronic Pain
(Part 2 of Chronic Pain & Kink Series) –1 to 1.5 hours
After covering what it is like to live with chronic pain, we'll now cover what it is like to add kink into the mix. How do we use pain to build a stronger d/s dynamic with our partner? How do we make adjustments so play isn't interrupted by bad pain? We'll cover all this and more, including pain from both sides of the slash. As with "Living with Chronic Pain," questions and stories are welcome!
Female Domination / Male Submission: The Difference Between Porn and Reality – 1.5 hours
Let's face it, porn is sexy. It is meant to rouse the senses and get you excited to play; but what are some of the issues that people encounter when they want to move away from just watching their fantasies and start participating in the real world? What should we expect once we've crossed that threshold? This class will help clear up some of the common misconceptions between porn and reality to help make that transition easier for lifestyle newcomers. Though the class is taught from a female dominant / male submissive view point, other dynamics can still learn from many of the common differences between porn and reality in the lifestyle.
Understanding 12 Step Programs and Power Exchange – 1.5 hours
Addiction. 12 Steps. Recovery. What do these things mean? How do they affect our relationships? Even better, how do we keep them from affecting our relationships negatively? “I’m an addict” can be some of the scariest words someone may ever hear from a partner; words that are near impossible to admit to a partner. The goal of this class/ discussion is to break down the mystery that causes addiction to be so terrifying to deal with, while helping addicts and their partners find common ground to build their relationship into something wonderful.
C.U.N.T.S. –1.5 hours
This is the class for those with relationship questions. How do I make the most of my relationship? How do I get closer to my partner(s)? What is the key to making our relationship last? Regardless of your relationship type or dynamic, C.U.N.T.S. can help you make it work.
Let's Make It Official! –1.5 hours
Do you have a paperwork fetish? Do you feel that writing things down makes them more official? Want to work that into your relationship? This class is perfect for you! We'll talk about letters of intent and introduction, needs and wants lists, contracts, and other paperwork that you and your partner(s) can do to add that little "official" extra to your life.
Who Am I? –1.5 hours
In a lifestyle that boasts self-discovery we as kinksters use a variety of terms, honorifics, labels, descriptors, and identifiers to find and portray ourselves. The goal of this class is to cover the what, when, why, and how of using language to identify and describe ourselves as well as those around us.
BDSM 101 aka “Welcome to Kink!” –1.5 hours
Congrats! You’ve found the exciting world of BDSM. Perhaps you read about it in a book, saw it in a video, or heard about it from some friends. Something about it intrigued you, whether it was just a few days ago or years ago, and now you’re looking for more. This class will cover the very basics of BDSM and what a public dungeon is like; a great primer for those just starting out and wanting to explore. This class finishes off with a Q&A session, perfect for those questions you’re just dying to ask.
Impact Toys 101 aka “Beat It!” –1.5 hours
So you’ve seen floggers, paddles, whips and various other toys used in scene and you were intrigued. Perhaps you have a few toys, but where do you start? How do you really use these things on a person without causing serious damage? In this class we’ll cover striking areas, basic throws, and information you need to know about all those wonderful toys in your toy-bag, including: floggers, dragontails, whips, paddles, canes, crops, and some pervertables. The class finishes off with basic bruise care so you can keep going back for more!
Needles 101 –1.5 hours
This class covers the how to's of needle play. Everything you need to know to have a fun and safe experience with those sharp and pointies that leave many weak at the knees. We will also cover safe handling precautions and procedures for bio-hazard type material such as sharps and bodily fluid handling and disposal. As a disclaimer this class will include blood, audience should be made aware to prevent issues from fear of blood or weak stomachs.
Decorative Cuttings 101 aka “I Will Cut You!” –1.5 hours
This class covers the how to's of scalpel work and decorative cuttings. We will cover the basics as well as how to make them artistic and take your play past just being painful. It will also cover safe handling precautions and procedures for bio-hazard type material such as sharps and bodily fluid handling and disposal. As a disclaimer this class will include blood, audience should be made aware to prevent issues from fear of blood or weak stomachs.
Body Mods 201 aka "Let’s Make Some Bloody Art" –1.5 hours
This class covers the how to's of needle play and decorative cuttings for those who love to mix the two in play. We will cover the basics of both as well as how to make them artistic and take your play past just being painful. It will also cover safe handling precautions and procedures for bio-hazard type material such as sharps and bodily fluid handling and disposal. As a disclaimer this class will include blood, audience should be made aware to prevent issues from fear of blood or weak stomachs.
Floggers 101 –1 to 1.5 hours
This class includes everything you need to know to start using floggers. As a leather worker that makes floggers, Ignixia can show you what to look for in good quality floggers and how to get the most for your money. Next you'll learn flogger safety, where to hit and where to stay away from as well as a few basic throws. The class finishes off with basic bruise care so you can keep going back for more!
Floggers 201 –1 to 1.5 hours
Time to take the basics to the next level. This class will cover more advanced techniques including the use of two floggers and florentine throwing. I will also cover alternative uses for floggers. Class will also include wrapping with intent, how to turn what most do as an accident into something wonderful. Ideally each participant should have a set of floggers for practice as the latter portion will be hands on.
Under Your Skin: Tips and Tricks for Leather Love and Care –1.5 hours
Leather. You know you like it and you want more of it in your life; so what do you need to know about this wonderful material? In this class we'll cover different types of leather, tanning processes, what different kinds of leather are good for, basic leather toy construction, basic leather cleaning and care, and finish everything off with a massive Q&A. If you've ever wanted to know anything about leather, this is the class to be at! Bring your leather, your questions, and a notepad as we're sure to cover lots of info!
Leather Care and Boot Blacking –1 to 1.5 hours
(Presenter’s note: Great class for following up the “Under Your Skin” class)
Learn the how-to's of taking care of your leather goods; whether they're toys, clothing, or boots, this class has you covered. This class can be presented as either a hands on or lecture. For hands on versions, attendees should have their own leather care supplies including saddle soap, a shaving brush, a can of Huberd's Shoe Grease, a can of polish, pantyhose, and buffing brush.
Originally joining the lifestyle as a switch, Ignixia started out learning both the dominant and submissive roles until realizing that she preferred activities on the left side of the slash. Her public play experience started at the Woodshed Orlando where she continues to grow with the local community as an educator and dungeon monitor. In 2014 she was also voted in as the Co-Chair for the National Leather Association's Orlando Chapter.
